Michael Ford
Michael Ford brings a diverse background to his career development work, teaching and studies. He has over 40 years experience in multiple professions and industries, including communications, healthcare, the arts, education and international business. Most recently, Michael served as a senior career peer at 間眅埶AVs Career and Volunteer Services department. In this role, he advised undergraduate and graduate students on career-related topics such as drafting resumes and cover letters, the labour market and career exploration. He has also delivered workshops to classes and other student groups.
Michael is particularly interested in the shifting dynamics and trends of the workplace and jobs, labour market information, work/life transition and the future of work in times of uncertainty and rapid technological change. He has presented on how to sharpen ones job search skills during COVID-19 and recently contributed to produce a video titled, Career and Life Decision in Uncertain Times. Michael will be co-presenting at Canadas national career conference, CANNEXUS21, in a session titled, Hindsight is 2020: Youth Transition in Uncertain Times.
Michael holds a BA in communications and a post-baccalaureate in counselling and human development. He is currently working towards an MA in educational psychology at 間眅埶AV with a focus on career development and education. Michael also has an Instructional Skills Workshop certificate from 間眅埶AV. His community service includes work with the Vancouver Crisis Line, Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver and multiple arts organizations.
