Shagun Bhanot (PhD, CPHR) brings over 15 years’ experience in the non-profit and education sectors, where she’s had the privilege of engaging meaningfully in her passions for knowledge sharing and people engagement. As an HR professional, she has always believed in aligning an organization’s vision to its HR initiatives, as doing so organically leads to employee engagement, talent development and performance improvement. Shagun’s career trajectory involves progressive experience in providing strategic consultation, advice, and support in full cycle recruitment, employee engagement, strategic HR planning, organizational development and designing in-house training programs to create sustainable talent inventory. She also has professional expertise through management of specialized projects, facilitation and career counselling in the non-profit sector. 

Shagun completed her PhD in English literature and linguistics at one of the top universities in India, and immediately joined the Indian Institute of Technology New Delhi, one of the premium engineering institutes in India, as an instructor. Shagun pursued her certificate in HR Management from BCIT when she moved to Vancouver and subsequently earned her Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. As an avid learner who believes in continuous professional development, Shagun has also taken courses in Universal Design of Learning, coaching, team dynamics, working effectively with Indigenous peoples, project management, intercultural competency and climate change adaptation.  

Shagun previously served as a board member for the Immigrant Advisory Council and volunteered with the Vancouver Foundation’s Neighbourhood Small Grants program. She continues to support Plan International Canada.
