Mental Health Issues in Rehabilitation and Disability Management
Mental health issues are the fastest-growing cause of absence from work. The economic impact is huge, and the cost in human suffering is immeasurable.
In this course, you’ll focus on how mental health problems affect the workplace, and how to create a healthy work environment. We’ll cover the physical, personal and organizational consequences of mental health and what can be done at the prevention level. We’ll also discuss how to help workers who have a mental health condition make a safe and timely return to work.
Courses will be available for individual registration until April 2023 only. After that time, all seats will be reserved for diploma students.

What you will learn
After completing this course, you’ll be able to do the following:
- Define mental health and identify common mental health conditions in the workplace
- Understand how a workplace can influence mental health
- Describe the main causes of and main treatments for mental health conditions
- Understand the issues related to workers with mental health conditions returning to work and how they function
- Undertake early intervention for workers with mental health conditions returning to work
How you will learn and be evaluated
- Expect lectures, case studies and group discussions
- Attend all 14 hours of classes (mandatory)
- Prepare to participate in discussions, review all handouts and complete the homework assignment
You will be evaluated on:
- Individual and group exercises
- Final written assignment
