Cultural, Social and Environmental Responsibility in PR

Taking corporate cultural, social and environmental responsibility—including addressing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's calls to action—is essential in today's PR practice. In this course, you'll examine how responsible PR practices can shape an organization's reputation. Using a critical, reflective lens that centres inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility, you'll gain foundational knowledge and practical tools that will allow you to apply a high standard of social responsibility to your PR work.

The final assignment for this course is due one week after the course ends.

What you will learn

  • Develop the capacity to effectively engage with diverse communities
  • Design PR campaigns that build trust and improve inclusion
  • Measure and manage corporations’ economic, social and environmental impacts
  • Improve corporate performance for positive social and environmental impact in the broader community
  • Critically assess the role of PR in advancing Truth and Reconciliation and develop strategies to support these efforts

How you will learn and be evaluated

  • Prepare to spend 10 hours per week on coursework
  • Expect readings and other assignments on a weekly basis
  • Plan to access the course at least once every few days to keep up with your work and class discussions
