Practice of Engagement
What are the steps in designing, implementing, and learning from an effective public engagement process? How can you properly diagnose power dynamics and bias 鈥� both internally and externally 鈥� to inform better engagement design?
This course covers the entire design process, with a focus on meeting community and stakeholder expectations for public engagement. You will identify strategies for ensuring that organizations embed and maintain public engagement values and practices over the long-term. You will also learn how to broaden and diversify the people and perspectives engaged, enriching the process.

- Diagnose the readiness of your organization for engagement
- Define the broad idea of "The Community" and apply it in your context
- Develop effective strategies for doing public engagement within and on behalf of organizations at different developmental stages
- Apply dialogue and engagement principles in a range of institutional and social contexts
- Develop the personal awareness and justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) skills necessary for engaging the community, including awareness of power and bias
