Other Tips & Best Practices
- HIDE distribution graphs
By default students are able to see the distribution of each assignment. That is the statistical HIGH | LOW | MEDIAN grades
- HIDE total grade columns
Students can see their total grade as you enter grades. If you do not want students to view
- DO NOT use curve grades feature
Curve grades manually in your spreadsheet program
Changes to hidden column reflected in total score
- Changing grades for one group member in a group assignment.
A group member deserves a different grade than the rest of the members. You need to do this manually. First you must check the option in the assignment under Group Assignment Assign Grades to Each student Individually This is will allow you to change a grade and it wont be reflected for each group members. Then you need to export the gradebook into your spreadsheet program and make the grade changes for the student(s) and then import the spreadsheet back into Canvas. Then you may want to go back to the assignment and uncheck the Assign Grades to Each student Individually option in the assignment.
