Description, purpose and use of records

Contracts, agreements, grant-in-aid agreements, correspondence, reports, project descriptions, budgets, financial statements and working papers relating to research contracts.

Applications by faculty for research support may be made into a contractual arrangement with a sponsor from either the private or public sector. The faculty member is required to provide specific deliverables pursuant to the research contract. Research contracts are filed separately from research grant files. All research contracts allow for eventual publication of research results.

The Vice-President Research or designate is responsible for negotiating research contracts between the University and granting agencies. All research contracts are between ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV and the sponsoring agency. Research contracts are signed according to the Board of Governors signing resolution pertaining to research contracts. The approval process pertaining to research contracts is outlined in policy R10.01.

Research Contract files are arranged by contract number.

A computer database is used to generate statistical information concerning sources and distribution of research funds within the University.
