Above are four boxes in the traditional style. Each picture shows two sides of one box. One of the differences between the two sides is that one side of each box has a 'double-eye'. Are there any other difference or similarities?
The three boxes to the right have traditional designs, but they also have lids inlaid with shell operculae (a covering on some sea snails).
The beautiful design above is painted on a large wooden screen. The design completely fills the space. The central figure is flanked by four human beings. The black and white image was taken in the early 1900's.
Similarly to the wooden screen above, the designs to the left were also painted on a grand scale. These designs were painted on two sides of a large box drum. Box drums are narrow boxes which were suspended from a ceiling rafter.
